Delegates and interested laity attending Annual Conference in Roanoke may purchase Laity Banquet tickets.
The Banquet is Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 5:00 pm at the Hotel Roanoke Conference Center. The cost is $30 per person. Our speaker will be Bishop Charlene Kammerer.
Tickets may be purchased by sending a check made out to the Virginia Annual Conference, with Laity Banquet in memo line to:

Enclose a self stamped envelope and tickets will be mailed to you.
Tickets will also be sold at the Pre Conference Orientation at the District Office on Saturday, June 2, 2012. The absolute deadline for me to have your check is June 11, 2012. No tickets will be sold at the door.
The Laity Sunday material is now available. The official date is October 21, but Laity Sunday can be celebrated any Sunday.

In Paragraph 133 of The UMC Book of Discipline (Part III of The Constitution, Section III – Servant Ministry and Servant Leadership, ¶134: Calling and Gifts of Leadership), we read:
“The United Methodist tradition has recognized that laypersons as well as ordained persons are gifted and called by God to lead the Church. The servant leadership of these persons is essential to the mission and ministry of congregations.”
